Cell phones, Laptop Computers, and Electronics
You are most certainly allowed to bring your cell phone and laptop with you for the Tiger Cruise. Your cell phone will function while the ship is docked in port, but is not allowed and will not function while the ship is out to sea. Any item with GPS including phones are not allowed to be used after the ship departs from the port. There are phones onboard the ship, to use them you will need to purchase a calling card from the ships store onboard. The rate per minute to use these phones is about $1 a minute.
You may also bring your laptop onboard and are welcome to use it at your leisure. However, you must turn the WIFI connection off, and you will not have access to an Internet connection while using it. If you need to send or receive an email, you will need to make arrangements with your sailor/sponsor to use one of the shipboard computers and all email will have to be sent and received from their official military email account, they will be responsible for any emails you send or receive. There are a limited amount of computers on board, and 5,000 plus crew and passengers. So it is not always convenient to use a computer.
If you bring any electronic items that require being plugged in, they will need to be checked by the ship's electricians to make sure they're safe and compatible with the ship's electrical system. This can be done upon embarkation. If you have any questions at all about using any electrical item while on board, we encourage you to ask your sailor/sponsor, they are well versed on the do's and don'ts.
