What is an Ombudsman and how do you contact us?
Your USS CARL VINSON Ombudsman team are volunteers appointed by the Commanding Officer to serve as the primary link between Command families and Command leadership. Your Ombudsman are appointed by the CO based upon our background and experiences as military spouses. The Ombudsman team support the Command mission by serving as a trained resource for information, referrals, and as a vital source of communication for family members, whether the ship is at home port or on deployment.
All Ombudsman go through Ombudsman training, as well as attend monthly trainings so that we are up-to-date on the resources and information needed to best support our command families, and so that we may be an effective representative of the Command and an advocate for family members.
The Ombudsman are here to assist you with any concerns you may have, refer you to helpful points of contact and resources, and lend support to you and your family. We are not however, a go-between for the Navy member/sponsor and the command, or a mediator between husband and wife.
